A devastating TransLink accident took place on May 28th, close to Horseshoe Bay. Police have followed up claiming "the incident occurred at around 3:30 p.m.", resulting in the loss of a four-year-old boy. Additionally, the crash lead two individuals to Lions Gate Hospital and has left an emotional scare on bystanders that witnessed it. The individual responsible for being behind the wheel has complied with officers and the whole thing is under heavy investigation. After the bus was inspected, it was ruled out that "speed was not a factor", for this matter. In the meantime, police are urging that anyone that has been affected by witnessing this "should reach out to victims services", so they can receive the help they need. Lastly, the WVPD would appreciate any available camera footage that bystanders may have during this time.

This has left me absolutely stunned, knowing that this is not too far from North Vancouver. It's hard knowing that the life of a young child was taken away in the blink of an eye, while he had a whole life ahead of him. You don't necessarily need to know the individuals from an accident to have all the waves of emotions crash down on you. Just having the connection of visiting Horseshoe Bay and living not too far away, fosters to immense feelings of vicarious stress. As of right now, I hope the victim's mother has a full recovery with a strong support system at this time of need.
